New Slitting and Rewinding Lab at Catbridge

Release Date: 02/19/2013

Adding In-House Machines for Customer Trials

Catbridge has created an in-house slitting and rewinding lab at its Parsippany, NJ facility. This lab will enable customers to test new slitter designs and technologies and trial their specific materials.

The slitting and rewinding lab features two of our most recent and productive slitter rewinders. One is a Model 900 duplex center winder and the other is the revolutionary 324FP single-shaft turret winder.

The Model 900 is the latest version of our fixed shaft, cantilevered duplex center winders. A high-speed machine with broad spectrum capabilities, the 900 features a 32″ rewind diameter, a combination of slitting methods, a wide tension range, and numerous other technologies. The in-house Model 900 will provide an opportunity to trial films, flexible packaging, labelstock, and various other materials.

The Model 324FP, a single turret rewinder with advanced web control systems, allows flexible packaging converters to run almost all conventional duplex center winder work on a common shaft, a true evolution in slitter technology and converting practice. Winding rolls on a common shaft greatly reduces downtime between sets, simplifies core placement and finished roll discharge, and improves ergonomics. State-of-the-art web controls provide excellent slit separation and edge profiles, even for narrow cut work.  The versatile 324FP turret slitter rewinder can be equipped to handle not only flexible packaging laminations but also primary film, paper and paper laminations, and nonwovens.

At the slitting and rewinding lab, new technologies can be demonstrated and new materials can be tested under various winding recipes and parameters to determine optimal operating conditions. Converters can see for themselves what is possible and consider the benefits for their work.
